Yiwu Guafengzhai Raw Pu’er Tea Characteristics & Brewing Guide
Hailing from Yiwu Township’s Guafengzhai—a premium Pu’er terroir—this raw tea is celebrated for its ancient tree leaves (about 100 years old) and misty mountain microclimate. It offers a smooth, honey-sweet profile with layered notes of wildflowers, ripe mango, and subtle earthiness. The liquor presents a bright golden hue, while its long-lasting aftertaste leaves a refreshing “hui gan” (sweet return) on the palate.
Brewing Method:
- Use 100°C spring water to awaken its complexity.
- Add 7-8g tea leaves to a 150ml gaiwan or clay pot.
- First rinse (10 seconds) to clean leaves; steep 15-20 seconds for the first infusion, gradually increasing steeping time by 10 seconds for subsequent brews (up to 10 infusions).
- Best enjoyed in a calm setting to appreciate its evolving nuances, from floral freshness to deep, mellow sweetness.
